2018 Will Be The Best Yet!

2017 is now behind us, and 2018 is bound to be the best year yet. I can’t really complain about last year, as it really wasn’t that bad for me. It ended a little rough, but as I start the new year I now realize the ending was a blessing in disguise. I ended the year and started the new one, spending time with my little cuties in Houston. They say what you do on the first day of the new year will be what you do all year. I’m hoping that only part of that is true. I like seeing my twins, and traveling in first class, but I’m not terribly excited about having cancelled flights and sitting in the Admirals Club for 4 plus hours (first world problems I know).

On The Road Again

One of my favorite parts of the holidays is getting to see my daughters in Houston. It’s unfortunate that I don’t get to see them on a daily basis, but the time I do get to spend with them is precious. I’m very fortunate that their mother is a superstar and can manage twins and a career at the same time (and I believe 3 dogs). This year however, I get four straight days with them, and will close the year and start the new year with them. I can’t be more excited!

As the new year approaches, everyone and their brother starts to make New Years resolutions. I’ve never been one of those that needs to wait until the next year to start on a new goal. If I have a goal in mind, I start on it right away. This year is no different, since I’ve been fully committed to losing the extra pounds I put on over the past year, I’m setting a goal for my birthday in April. I want to be 190 pounds, which would be a total weight lose of 43 lbs.

End Of Year Project

With the end of the year fast approaching, I’ve had some lingering projects that I really need to get off the ground and running. Although I still have “work” to do, there is some free time to push these projects over the hump. There is also an investment in equipment and time that I’d also like to recover.

Merry Christmas 2017

It’s amazing what a difference a year can make. This time last year I was absolutely dreading the holidays. This year I was thoroughly looking forward to them. Getting rid of negativity and surrounding ones self with positive and healthy relationships is a great way to look at your life and realize that you can make positive changes in the smallest of ways that will have gigantic outcomes.

How did I do it you may ask? Here are some of the changes I made that allowed me to smile and bring myself joy and not depend on the mood of others to make myself happy.

Early Bird Gets The Worm

Home Desk
The Perfect Desk for decluttered work

Because I’ve already made the statement that I’ll work harder than the next guy, I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to change the way I work on a daily basis. I’ve also been reading several books about the habits or obsessions of highly effective and successful people. One of the key attributes that these folks possess, is the ability to stick with a routine. I’ve decided that “Work Early Sleep Early”, will be the way I run my day. MJ Made Me Do It

Wayne Gretzky is famous for the quote:

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

MJ Wins the Finals

The above image is of my desktop. Michael Jordan once said:

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

Hello to 2017

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here. Naturally LOTS of things have happened since the last time I posted publicly on this blog. I’ve been writing for several of my other websites, but not this one. So, in 2017 I figured that needed to change. There is lots to talk about and this year is going to be full of interesting adventures.

Retro Arcade on a Raspberry Pi

My son is an avid gamer, or at least he appears to be. He loves video games about as much as I did when I was his age. In fact as I remember, our lives were pretty similar: video games, sports, food and friends. One thing appears to be much different, and that’s the type of game we are playing. The games today are almost lifelike with full soundtracks and the games I was playing, well they were made of 16 bit graphics and midi sound. But I thought it was important to show my children the games I played in hope that they would enjoy it as well and potentially give us something to do on a Friday night in.

The next question was how was I going to obtain all these games and systems, I certainly didn’t have the room nor the time to find all them.

Branching Out

Last year when I decided to leave the comfort of a regular paycheck and instead be responsible for creating my own fortunes, I didn’t realize that I’d actually end up doing something very different than I had set out to do.  My goal was to consult and build a team of CMS professionals and work with customers on achieving their project goals. As one of the original Interwoven members, I didn’t really think that I could ever end up doing anything else.

I couldn’t have been more wrong…
